Hopkins Farm Brewery is family owned and operated.  The Hopkins have been established here as farmers on the corner of Rider Lane, Level Road (Rt. 155) and Aldino Road since the 1920's. This land has supported a dairy operation, production tomatoes for canning, grain crops including barley, corn, wheat and soybeans. We also grow and harvest by hand, the fresh produce we sell at our on-site produce stand. The concept of utilizing the malted barley from our farm as the basis for a family brew started bubbling in 2018. The family pulled together and opened the doors of Hopkins Farm Brewery in 2020. 

The Family

The Hopkins Farm has been owned and operated for four generations of Hopkins. Arthur Hopkins and Ella Morris bought this farm in the 1920's. They had one son, Arthur Hopkins, who married Rosalie Divers. Both Arthur and Rosalie grew up on neighboring dairy farms so it was only fitting that they started their own dairy farm nearby in Level. They started their business, Level Green Farm and had three children: David, Alice and Daniel Hopkins.  We are the current owners. For us, growing up on the dairy farm shaped the character of the individuals we are today.  It was a lifestyle that incorporated togetherness with hard work and play on a daily basis. Watching our parents, Arthur and Rosalie Hopkins operate a dairy farm 365 days a year provided a clear vision of hard work and team work. Everyone had a role and contributed to the daily operations of the farm. Social events were always planned around the milking schedule. This included weddings, parties and the yearly vacation. 

Arthur and Rosalie enjoyed dancing, card playing, crab feasts, and a good meal. Our favorite memories include softball games and croquet in the backyard even on the hottest days of summer and sledding on the big hill with friends and a warming bonfire in the winter. 

Education was extremely important to our family and we were supported by our parents at Harford Day School, The John Carroll School, and all the way through college. 

David attended the University of Delaware and majored in Plant Science. As a farmer and operator of Hopkins Produce, he continues to grow Harford County's best sweet corn along a variety of fresh produce including tomatoes and watermelon. Dave married his high school sweetheart, Michele Daly. Their son, Aaron Hopkins, is now the brewer at Hopkins Farm Brewery. Michele helps out with flower arrangements and crafts sold at Hopkins Produce.

Alice Hopkins Puckett attended Bridgewater College where she majored in Physical Education and Health. She returned to Harford County after graduation where she taught at Fallston High School and coached championship field hockey teams for 33 years. She ran Puckett's Field Hockey Camps for 24 years and coached John Carroll field hockey for four years.

Daniel Hopkins attended Delaware Valley College and majored in Dairy Science. While his original intention was to continue the family tradition of operating a dairy, he changed his course and pursued a career in Veterinary Medicine. He met his wife, Katie Lee Spradlin, while attending the Virginia Maryland Veterinary School in Blacksburg, VA. They moved back to the farm in 1994. Dan practiced Veterinary Medicine and helped with the dairy until the dairy operation was discontinued in  2001.  He retired from his veterinary practice in 2014. He continues to help with farm work and will now be the managing partner of Hopkins Farm Brewery. His wife, Katie, practiced Pediatric Medicine in Harford County for 26 years. As of 2020, she has turned her energy to helping the managing team at Hopkins Farm Brewery. They have two sons, Will and Mitchell Hopkins. You will see Mitchell working at Hopkins Farm Brewery during its inaugural year and helping out at Hopkins Produce.
